PineCrest Lodge

Pine Crest Lodge is in Deep River and it sits on the Ottawa River. At Pine Crest it is always and adventure but the natural changes are more exciting than a boring house hold video game. Autumn at Pine Crest is not all fun and games for my Aunt and Uncle. They have to rake the leaves and clean the cabins for winter. It is usually very cold at Pine Crest Lodge. Sometimes they get four feet of snow.

Pine Crest is so beautiful, but sometimes gloomy. Like in fall or winter because it’s foggy and there are no trees with leaves and flowers with petals. The beautiful outdoors are very cool. I once went to a water fall near there, it was huge but I forgot what it’s called. We crossed a bridge to get there. It was in Quebec. The view there is awesome. Pine Crest is beautiful in many different ways. But the river is what has my vote as the most beautiful. There were birds there I had never seen before. Like an Osprey which is like an eagle but bigger. The fishing is good too. I caught a walleye and my mom caught a Northern Pike which we found out is sometimes called a snake fish because it kinda looks like a snake. There are also lots of catfish and bass too.

In the winter when the river freezes sometimes when you look out the living room window you see wolves walking on the ice.

In the summer you can walk out into the river a long ways and then it just drops about forty feet. It’s cool because they have a raft with a slide and on one side of the raft you can touch the ground and on the other side there is no ground. They also have canoes, motor boats, paddle boats, and a kayak. You have to stay close to shore with the kayak because the river can be calm one minute, and then the next minute it’s moving fast. You never know when they are going to open the dam. The river has whirlpools in it. They are neat. There is a beach there sometimes too. It depends on how they work the dam.

One year there was twenty feet of beach and last year there was only five feet of beach. In the spring the water goes as high as the patio. The water can rise up ten feet. The drive there takes about six or seven hours. But it is worth the wait.
